Professor Martin Binks welcomed over 70 guests to the Sir Colin Campbell Building for a Special Seminar event focusing on 'Sustainable Manufacturing in the Global Economy'.  The audience were treated to two contrasting approaches as to how to go about delivering sustainable manufacturing solutions yet with very complementary views as to the direction of travel and overall need to achieve the objective.

Professor Nabil Gindy outlined a number of academic models supported by the economic and environmental data that is driving current sustainability thinking while Charles Cannon delivered a brief history of Ransomwood Estates and how over the last 150 years the business has evolved to meet ever changing commercial and environmental challenges.

The evening was drawn to a close by Gerald Blacoe MBE, as the current Chair of EMITA he thanked the two presenters and his university hosts for an interesting, thought provoking and stimulating evening.

This collaborative event brought together the University of Nottingham Institute for Eneterprise and Innovation (UNIEI) with the East Midlands International Trade Association (EMITA).
