£1.5m European Regional Development Funding is being invested in the Environmental Technology Centre (ETC), at the University of Nottingham, to assist SMEs to improve their financial and environmental performance by providing access to emerging technologies through demonstration and knowledge transfer.
The ETC is a leading resource for technology transfer, providing teaching, research and business support, and as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership was awarded the 2008 Innovation for Sustainability Lord Stafford Award in the East Midlands.
Welcoming the announcement of the investment, Keith Baker, Director of the ETC said:
"The businesses in the East Midlands are a vital part of the overall knowledge which resides here in the region. This funding will enable the ETC to continue helping this knowledge to grow and assist and encourage SMEs to carry on Innovating in a sustainable way. This will benefit the region as a whole.
SMEs and other communities will benefit from the ETC's new remit to operate throughout the whole East Midlands region. The ETC provides an excellent conduit between the Universities, industry and stakeholders and the ERDF funding assists in maintaining this facility."
