The Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) is one of seven Sub-regional Strategic Partnerships (SSPs) set up by the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) in 2003. 

Their aim is to stimulate, develop and bring forward a range of sustainable economic opportunities in Derby & Derbyshire and improve the prosperity and overall environment for businesses, communities, individuals and visitors.

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) has recognised the growing importance of innovation by supporting the development of a Regional Innovation Strategy and Action Plan (RIS). emda has committed significant funding and is working with a range of partners to deliver the RIS in order to stimulate innovation in key areas. East Midlands Innovation – the Regional Science and Industry Council established by emda - is responsible for overseeing this process.
